You Decide....

Question: Shouldn't pictures taken with an expensive 8 mega-pixel camera, with a kick-butt lens look awesome? Cameras that nice, it really shouldn't matter WHO is really taking the pictures...right? Well, since it is totally impossible for me to always be the photographer (plus I want to be in some of the shots) I get Jon to fill in as guest-photographer. The only thing is that he has a very different EYE than myself. He truly believes that beauty is SUBJECTIVE, and that candid shots are ALWAYS the best.

Since I agree that Art, and beauty are subjective, I've decided to let our families decide which pictures present us in the best possible light!

Picture 1. (photographer: Ali Bower)

Shows sweet little Grant getting ready to enjoy grandma's delicious spread.

Picture 2. (photographer: Jon Bower)

Showing Ali partaking in the delicious spread.

Picture 3. (photographer: Ali Bower)

Close-Up of Grant playing with his food.

Now, posed pictures can look contrived and unnatural at times, but they don't always have have to be unnatural.

Picture 5, 6, 7, 8 (photographer: Jon Bower)

Slightly posed...but cute.

Here are a few more candid shots.

Picture 9, 10, 11. (photographer: Ali Bower)

Feeding the beast.

Still playing with the soy beans...weirdo?

We love CAKE!

Not....Flat...Enough!

Now I know that my photos are not going to win any photo awards...but I do think I see a difference in how we choose to portray the ones around us....just saying.

Grandma's Pad

Here are some pictures of Grandma's new digs...

Her apartment has a balcony view of the courtyard...makes you feel like you are in Paris or some other romantic city!

As you can see, her microwave is bigger than her whole kitchen!

Let's call him, "Best of Bower!"

Jon has only published one paper in his short environmental science career, but oh what a paper it was. He has been notified that his article has been selected for the journal's "Best of" issue! HA! What an awesome honor!

Jon will not be signing autographed copies of his article for friends and family, so don't even ask. He doesn't know that I'm sharing this info, but I thought I should let everyone know how awesome he his!

New Possibilities! House Update

New Possibilities!

This little beauty on 34 Northwood Drive, Woodland CA could be ours within a matter of weeks/months. It is what they call a cottage/bungalow style home, built 1951 with a lot of 50's charm, but with all the modern conveniences. It is a cute 3 bedroom home located on an adorable tree lined street! It is a Short Sale, or what I like to call a Mega-Super-Long Sale. The seller has approved our offer...we actually won a bid war for once! We hope the bank will be quick this time around so we can get this show on the road. Wish us luck.

Bump It!

Due to the recent requests to post a bump picture, I have organized a series of bump poses for your enjoyment.

I was on the phone with Amy when these pics were taken.

Though I'm out of bump pictures, doesn't mean we need to stop here.  So in the spirit of bumps...here is one of my favorite products....you know you all want one!

It's Been a While...

As most of you know, I've been a bit preoccupied and have not blogged in a long while. I've taken very little photos lately so bare with me.

First off, Grandma celebrated her 88th birthday those that could, drove down to Redding for the day.

I bet the women in the family can guess what I'm thinking here....

For some reason, Jon thought it would be fun to document me trying to keep down my breakfast (picture taken a several weeks ago).

Finally, NO, I'm not starting my own sweatshop!

Robyn brought over her two machines last weekend, and we had a sewing bee.

A few weeks ago, my mother-in-law sent me her sewing machine and overlock machine. I have to say, this is one of the most thoughtful gifts I've ever recieved. They work great, and I've had fun learning to use this new equipment. The sewing machine makes EXCELLENT Buttonholes! The Overlock/Serger machine is also pretty easy to use. I've even enrolled in an Overlock introductory course at the Davis Craft Center, to insure I don't break anything.

And last, but not least...

We have been looking for houses in Woodland, and we finally found a cute little house in our $$ range with lots of potential. Cross your fingers for us...we hope the bank accepts our offer. We should hear something in a few weeks. If it does not work out, we will just continue the search.

So that's it for pictures. Hopefully we will have more soon!
